At Fleuris, we believe in celebrating the rhythm of nature by working exclusively with seasonal flowers. Using in-season blooms allows us to create designs that reflect the unique beauty of each time of year, bringing authenticity and harmony to every arrangement.

This approach ensures our flowers are fresh, vibrant, and sustainably grown—minimizing the environmental impact of long-distance transport while supporting local growers and regional biodiversity.

Seasonal flowers inspire creativity, provide the highest quality, and allow us to honour nature’s cycles, resulting in florals that are as thoughtful as they are breathtaking.

WHY WE WORK WITH SEASONAL FLOWERS

Life in the garden during March, April, and May bursts with the joy of spring's return, offering a vibrant palette of colours, captivating fragrances, and exquisite blooms. This season brings a sense of renewal, perfect for celebrating love, new beginnings, and life’s precious moments.

The garden awakens with anemones and narcissus, followed by the elegance of tulips, fritillaries, and ranunculus, while the later part of May graces us with the splendour of roses, irises, and peonies, among many other seasonal treasures.

Autumn

Though the garden rests during December, January, and February, the beauty of winter lies in its quiet elegance. Evergreens, branches, and naturally dried elements take centre stage, offering textures and hues that evoke warmth, nude tones and simplicity.

From eucalyptus and seed heads to the timeless charm of winter berries and foraged greenery, this season brings a sense of stillness and renewal, perfect for holiday gatherings and thoughtful arrangements.

DESIGNING WITH LOCAL FLOWERS

A year growing & designing LOCAL FLOWERS looks something like this.

It's time to start seedlings from seeds and plan the year while sipping tea by the wood stove. We're on our way to nurture tens of thousands of flower seedlings until the weather warms up.

We're back to designing with gorgeous spring flowers planted last autumn and perennials! The garden is bursting with blooms, celebrating the return of fresh flowers. Meanwhile, we offer workshops and continue planting seedlings and dahlia tubers for warmer days ahead.

January & February

March

June

We work in the orchard garden, planting the seedlings we cared for over the winter to bloom in summer. Fruit branches flower just as pollinators wake up, and the first spring flowers emerge.

As temperatures rise, spring flowers fade. Biennials make their brief appearance, and we 'flip' flower beds to plant heat-loving varieties that will bloom later in the season.

April & May

Summer flowers are in full bloom, with dahlias thriving until the first frost. We deadhead old blooms to make room for new ones. The orchard garden overflows with fruits and a variety of flowers that we harvest.

We plant bulbs and corms for spring, dig up, clean and divide dahlias to protect them from freezing and rotting in the rain if not already done in October, add low tunnels to fragile crops, add compost the the flower beds and look forward to catching our breath.

July & August

September & October

December

Many summer blooms continue to thrive but start to fade as dew and rain increase. We harvest seeds and plant spring bulbs for next year. Our fresh flower season winds down with the rains, but we continue designing as long as the flowers remain top quality. Meanwhile, we start fall cleaning and protecting what is left of the crops.

We prepare for the holiday season, including workshops celebrating ingredients from windstorms. We finalize plant and seed orders for next year and do a big cleanup before turning our studio into a seedling growing room.
